BEREA - On Saturday, Oct. 31, Richmond artist Sue Reeves will demonstrate weaving on the loom at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

A Richmond native, Reeves was taught to sew at the age of eight by her mother, who came from a family of seamstresses. Reeves received her Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from Ohio Wesleyan University, and the summer after graduating, she went to Berea College to learn weaving and pottery.

Reeves always wanted to weave, and her husband purchased an old LeClerc loom for her at auction in 1980. She began to weave colorful scarves from the chenille yarns. Her woven works are regularly available at the center.

The Kentucky Artisan Center is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, and features work from over 700 Kentucky artisans. Admission is free and travel information is available. The Artisan cafe is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
