Kelty to Demonstrate Stone Carving at Artisan Center

On Saturday, Nov. 28, Jason Kelty, of Shepherdsville, will demonstrate stone carving from 10:30 to 3:30 at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea.

Kelty has a B.A. degree in art from Bellarmine University and an M.F.A. degree in sculpture with a focus on stone carving, from the University of Kentucky. He currently is a public school art teacher and fine arts chair at Bullitt East High School. In his Salt River studio, outside of Shepherdsville, he creates large scale, mostly commissioned works.

Kelty has a collaborative work in the Center’s exhibit “It Takes Two.” Together with fellow artist/teacher Chris Wilder titled “Trophy Buck.”

Admission is free. The Center is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and features works from over 700 Kentucky artisans as well as a travel information area and a café open 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
