RICHMOND - Local police are seeking a suspect after a case of identity theft.
Last Friday, Richmond police took a theft report from a victim who had money fraudulently removed from his bank account.
A subsequent investigation revealed that the suspect in the case had obtained checks stolen from the mailbox of a couple in Laurel County and had obtained the victim’s checking account number to deposit one of the stolen checks at Central Bank in Richmond.
The suspect deposited the check in the amount of $1600 and received $600 in cash back from the bank. It was later discovered that the check was fraudulent.
The suspects' vehicle is believed to be a late 80s or early 90s Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, red in color, with a chrome toolbox in the back.
