Mike Coyle Named Kentucky Sheriff of the Year

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce Sheriff Mike Coyle has been named Sheriff of the Year by the Kentucky Sheriff’s Association.

Sheriff Coyle received this honor at the annual Kentucky Sheriff’s Association banquet on September 14, 2017 in Bowling Green Kentucky.

Sheriff Coyle has dedicated 38 years to his chosen profession in law enforcement with many of which have been in Madison County.

He has served with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office since 2011 and has been Sheriff since 2013.

During the past year, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office became the 17th Sheriff’s Office to be an Accredited Law Enforcement Agency in Kentucky.

With the increased drug complaints in Madison County Sheriff Coyle helped organize the Madison County HIDTA Drug Task Force in which two full time deputies are assigned and are in partnership with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

Sheriff Coyle implemented a Street Crimes Unit within the Madison County Sheriff’s Office with the intent to provide a proactive attack on the root of the received complaints.

The Street Crimes Unit contacts and tracks every complaint in which the Sheriff’s Office receives.

Since the inception of the Street Crimes Unit, drug arrests have increased by 41%, 158 warrants have been served, along with the seizure of guns and money within a short amount of time.

Sheriff Coyle directly partners with many civic groups, churches and local school systems. He has directed the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and its Deputies engaged to conduct programs to educate the citizens of Madison County on crime prevention and the effects that drugs have on our community.

Sheriff Mike Coyle has evolved the Madison County Sheriff’s Office with vision and his drive to care for his community.
